Three Days, How did we do that? Well we didn’t actually, but it sure felt like it! We arrived early Wednesday and promptly jumped into the White Hummer Limo for a ride from McCarren Airport to The Green Valley Ranch. After a quick check in we headed down for a preliminary soundcheck to make sure the gear had all arrived. Whew – everything turned on and twenty minutes later we were jamming in Vegas – what a difference a day makes! We were ready to show the world how theVIPs roll.
The showcase seemed to really come together. In addition to our set, we were going to perform with Elliot, a performance painter, from Artbeat Live (www.artbeatlive.com). Our original plan was to bring out the big cinematic set with In Your Eyes and Apologize during his set. However, Elliot was going to paint Bono and Bruce. So, we decided to perform Beautiful Day and Born to Run which (wow!) sounded big as a house.
On the first night, we went to the opening event and saw some great acts including our new friends from Liquid Blue, but our part was coming early in the morning with the opening of the conference. Sure enough we were up at 5:30 am and gig ready for sound check at 7 AM. We rushed through a sound check and were ready for doors at 8:45 – Here we go – 9 AM. Intros were read, the curtain opened, and we hit the stage like it was the middle of the night. Seven minutes later, I couldn’t quite remember what we played but I know we rocked them with our full-on kung fu kicking, jump slide sets! Two hours later, we hit the stage with Elliot and created a cool dramatic vibe that enhanced his amazing performance. All before 11 am!
Wow, for 18 minutes, it was definitely a party and worth the effort. Of course, once the pressure was off, we spent the day in the booth schmoozing with new friends and then, what to do, what to do – a free night in Vegas? This felt like two nights in one – hence three days three nights! VIP Style…
After a quick nap, it was off to the airport for our flights home – a little tired but with a smile on our faces. Next up – a showcase at the amazing W Hotel in DC for DC ISES – hold on to your hats, this band is ready to rock!
